Locar Guindastes e Transportes Intermodais is located in Guarulhos – São Paulo and it was founded in 1988. The company operates in the field of special transportation and it is the Latin America´s biggest one in cargo lifting by cranes.
Up to 1992, it only worked in heavy industrial transportation area. At that same year, an opportunity arised for the company to start working in the areas of moving and lifting.
In 1999, a great milestone in its history takes place when Locar purchases “80 pieces of equipment at once”.
In 2001, as it senses the needs of the market, Locar acquired “LR 1800, the Largest Crane in Latin America”.
In 2007, another milestone was set with the strategy of activity segmentation and the “Tower Crane Division” is established. Within the scope of available solutions, in 2008 the “Platform Division” is activated.
Also in 2008, the “Maritime Division” is launched, operating in the field of special transportation, large projects and offshore. Also noteworthy is its expertise in relocation.
In 2010, Locar has already got many achievements, like the launching of the “offshore based on Ilha do Governador – Rio de Janeiro”, and the purchase of a “LTM 11200 The Largest Telescopic Crane in the World”.
Among its customers are large enterprises in the petrochemical, mining, hydroelectric power plants, steelworks, manufacturers, etc. Its 1,500-plus employees are distributed at its headquarter, in Guarulhos and among its branches.

Locar is Latin America´s largest company in its field and one of the largest in the world. In continually invests in new equipment to expand its crane fleet, and its most recent acquisition is the LTM 11200 telescopic crane, which has 9 axles, 100-meter boom (in addition to complementary 100-meter boom) and is capable to lift up to 1,200 metric tons of cargo, suitable for operations in the petrochemical, pulp & paper and wind farm segments, among others.
Due to its high technology equipment, the safety during services provided is ensured and the time of operations provides low downtimes, allowing record-setting deadlines during services.
The same technology and capability can be found in the engineering staff and in the software components employed by Locar, which enable it to anticipate risky situations through the study of rigging, and thus providing quality and safe services.
